JOHNSON MOVE PART OF IBM REORGANISATION

The appointment of William Johnson from Digital Equipment Corp as head of its new Networking Hardware division (CI No 2,294) was part of a reorganisation by IBM Corp that sees the company creating a companion Networking Software division under Donald Haile, an internal promotion; the Networking Software Division includes enterprise management – SystemView, NetView, computer-aided telephony systems – CallPath, DirectTalk, transaction systems – CICS, MQSeries, networking products VTAM, TCP/IP, Open Systems Interconnection, and workgroup networking – OS/2 Communications Manager, AIX SNA services, and PC 3270 emulation; the Networking Hardware Division includes wide area networking, including multimedia, wireless, high-bandwidth switches and networking controllers and campus networking – local net adaptors, intelligent hubs and routers.
