JOHN GOEKEN, FOUNDER OF WHAT IS NOW GTE AIRFONE, HAS LOST A ROUND IN HIS LONGRUNNING BATTLE WITH HIS FORMER COMPANY

By CBR Staff Writer

John Goeken, founder of what is now GTE Airfone, has lost a round in his longrunning battle with his former company when a Chicago court ruled that the non-compete clause he signed when selling his company to GTE Corp remains binding; Goeken says that his new company, In-Flight Phones, will continue to try to compete with Airfone, and seek a licence in October, but if the app-al fails, he will put the company on ice until the noncompete clause expires, in the middle of 1992.
