Jazztel, the second largest Spanish broadband player with 240,000 DSL lines, received an MVNO license from the Spanish communication regulator, CMT, in 2005 along with Sweden’s Tele2 and UK’s BT.

Orange has already signed deals to rent its network to French hypermarket group Carrefour and its subsidiary Dia.

Mobile phone retailer, Carphone Warehouse and Telecor are among the other potential MVNO entrants who don’t have any telecommunication operations. However, with an extended retail presence, they are planning to launch their mobile services in Spain.

The Spainish MVNO market has seen various other MVNO agreements since the MVNO license distribution in 2005. BT launch mobility services in partnership with Vodafone Spain in March 2007, while Euskaltel signed an MVNO agreement with Vodafone Spain in September 2006. Deutsche Telekom’s Spanish ISP, Ya.com is expected to launch services in partnership with Telefonica Moviles Espana.
