The move is intended to accelerate market uptake of JasperSoft’s open source business intelligence platform JasperIntelligence, which it unveiled in April.

JasperSoft’s open source BI software, some of which now also comes in commercial flavors, is also targeted at SMEs. JasperSoft already boasts over one million downloads and over 10,000 corporate deployments of its open source and commercially licensed BI products.

Novell’s Market Start Solutions program will help by providing a global network of channel partners where JasperIntelligence software can be integrated, supported, and sold.

JasperSoft is formally working on a Yes certification for Novell’s program that will ensure compatibility with Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise operating system platform.

All products currently in the JasperIntelligence architecture: iReports, JasperReports, JasperServer, and JasperAnalysis, are being certified.

Novell launched Market Start in late 2005 as a way to provide companies with Novell-certified applications from commercial open source and Linux-based software vendors.

Other open source vendors like Alfresco, MySQL, SugarCRM, and Zmanda are also part of the Market Start program.
