The San Francisco-based company has launched new Professional and Developer versions of its embeddable lightweight JasperReports reporting library aimed at Java developers and OEMs

The new editions enhance the Java reporting library with commercial-grade tools and functionality for creating web reports, pixel-perfect report layouts, dashboards, charts, and cross-tab reports. They also come with expanded database support for Oracle and IBM DB2.

A new Professional version of JasperStudio, a graphical desktop report design tool, has also been released. It includes an optional plug-in for the Eclipse development environment, and can create, test, and run reports for both JasperSoft’s report server product JasperServer and its on demand reporting system for Salesforce.com CRM, called Jasper4Salesforce. JasperStudio is built on JasperSoft’s iReport graphical report designer software.

The new products also bundle advanced documentation and better support options, including indemnification, and also come with a managed release cycle.

The software is available either as annual subscription or commercial license, with access to the full source code. The Professional versions of JasperReports and JasperStudio can also be licensed on a per CPU basis. The JasperReports Developer edition is licensed on a per-developer seat basis

JasperSoft is also offering special pricing for ISVs that want to embed its reporting software into their applications.

JasperSoft said downloads of its open source JasperReports and commercial business intelligence suite products (reporting server, ad hoc report design interfaces, OLAP analysis, ETL, and a Java reporting library) more than doubled last year to 2 million. It said its software is now used by 5,000 companies worldwide.
