Jasmin Electronics Plc, the Leicester company that financed itself with an unsponsored issue under the Business Expansion Scheme, has bought Thorn EMI Electronics Ltd’s Nottingham-based Simtec division: Simtec brings with it a 60,000 square foot factory and products including those for designing and manufacturing explosive detection, chemical analysis, industrial training and nuclear monitoring systems; terms were not disclosed; in May, Jasmin acquired the assets and work in progress of Sandiacre Electrics (1984) from the receiver and continued its electrical control equipment and switchgear business under the name Jasmin Control.
