Japan’s WebTV Networks KK is to introduce a host of new functions for its internet service, but will not say how many subscribers have been attracted to the service. WebTV Networks introduced the internet service last December and officials claim there is no reason to alter its initial target of attracting 150,000 users in a year and 1 million in three years. The company will start offering new services in June that will enable users to print displayed images, edit email messages with still images and voice attachments, have access to chat or news groups, and impose web site restrictions. Subscribers will now also be able to see their total user access and receive a modem upgrade from 33.6Kbps to 56Kbps.
