JAPAN’S INTERNATIONAL TELECOM AUTHORITY TO REDUCE CHARGES

Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co, Japan’s international telecommunications authority, will reduce charges for international calls from the middle of next month instead of from October 1: the switch is in response to a request from the Posts & Telecommunications Ministry to reduce international telephone charges before the Seoul Olympics, which open on September 17 so that the whole world does not discover that Japan’s telephone charges are considerably higher than in the rest of the world, comments our Tokyo correspondent.
