But in the past seven years, the US has struck back with a vengeance, so much so that the 10 major Japanese semiconductor makers are forming a new alliance for the defensive purpose of trying to retain global competitiveness. Japanese wafer and fabrication equipment firms may join and the support of government will be sought.
