JAPANESE MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE & INDUSTRY SAYS TOTAL INSTALLED BASE OF ALL COMPUTERS 223,356 IN DECEMBER

The Japanese are mesmerised by numbers, and the Ministry of International Trade & Industry reckons that the total installed base of all computers in December stood at 223,356, worth $47.7m all told; large machines, $1.63m accounted for 56% by value; medium, above $250,000, 21.4%; microcomputers represented 66.8% of the computer population by number.
