JAPANESE MINISTRY OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE & INDUSTRY AUTHORISES EXPANDED OUTPUT OF 256K MEMORY CHIPS

The Japanese Ministry of International Trade & Industry has duly authorised chipmakers to expand output of 256K memory chips in the third quarter by 10% over the second quarter – but at 134m, output will still be 24% below that for the fourth quarter of 1986: output of 1M-bit memory chips will be permitted to expand by 49% to 12.5m.
