Microsoft Corp chairman Bill Gates, speaking at a Windows show in Makuhari, near Tokyo last week, said that ships of Japanese Windows-NT would start in second half 1993. He added that while use of Windows in Japan is behind the US and Europe, he expects the Japanese market to catch up within two years. Gates also said that Microsoft had supplied a number of Japanese facsimile manufacturers with Windows, to use in the development of their new generation machines to provide an integrated package of communications, editing and network functions. The new facsimile machines will be launched simultaneously in the US and Japan in 1993.
