The outlook for the Japanese Dynamic Random Access Memory market (CI No 3,130) is pretty grim, according to a report in Semiconductor Business News. The report suggests there is a sluggish home market for chip-consuming products such as personal computers and consumer electronics. There is an overcapacity due to growth of market competitors such as South Korea and Taiwan. The report says matters are made worth by the Japanese falling behind in the capital investment race.
