JAPANESE COMPANIES ASKED TO BUY MORE FOREIGN MEMORY CHIPS

Japan’s Ministry of International Trade & Industry yesterday asked 24 major companies to buy more foreign memory chips: the request was made in a meeting with representatives from Kyocera Corp and other major semiconductor users in Japan, and it also plans to make a similar request today when it calls in officials from 22 other companies.
