RSA says the banks will leverage the RSA SecurID solution to help protect consumers against account fraud, phishing and other online security threats.

RSA claims Japan Net Bank will deploy RSA SecurID two-factor authentication tokens to more than one million online banking customers, becoming the first financial institution in the world to deliver two-factor authentication tokens to all active account holders.

According to RSA, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation will use its two-factor authentication to online banking customers as part of the bank’s One’s Direct Internet banking service. The technology vendor says SMBC has adopted the solution in order to support its customers’ efforts to stay protected while transacting online.

Christopher Young, vice president of consumer authentication at RSA, said, As financial institutions strive to better protect their online banking customers, these organizations seek solutions that are flexible, adaptable, and easily implemented across multiple channels.
