JAPANESE AND US TRADE OFFICIALS TO HAVE URGENT TALKS ON US IMPOSITION OF SANCTIONS ON JAPANESE IMPORTS

The US has acceded to Japanese requests for urgent talks over the administration’s threat to impose sanctions on Japanese imports to the US in retaliation for alleged breaches of the US-Japan semiconductor accord, and Japanese trade officials will meet their US counterparts in Washington over the weekend with further high-level talks arranged for next week.
