JAPANESE ADVANCED SYSTEMS DEVELOPS OPTICAL DISK JUKEBOX

The Japanese Advanced Systems Corp has developed and will begin marketing an optical disk jukebox that can handle as many as 152 optical disks: called the OPAC11-51C, it is designed for connection to DEC MicroVAX, can carry as much as 90Gb on 5.25 disks and the 152-disk version sells for about $127,000; a smaller version handling 56 disks for 34Gb is $106,000 and the first year target is 30.
