Not much has been heard about desk-top publishing from Japan – because it hasn’t hit the market there yet, but now Japan Soft Bank looks to make the breakthrough and has tied up with Phoenix Technologies Ltd, Norwood, Massachusetts to pioneer the market for printer control software for desktop publishing systems in Japan: the partners hope to get an edge by selling the software to manufacturers wanting to get into the market; at present, only a bi-lingual version of Ready-Set-Go from Letraset for the Apple Macintosh is available for Japanese speakers, although Pagemaker is available in English for the NEC 9801 series – Japanese is promised for April.
