Jane’s Intelligence Review Kills Article for Slashdot

By CBR Staff Writer

The influence of Rob Malda’s pioneering hacker news site Slashdot.org continues to grow. The Slashdot community’s latest achievement was to persuade the editors of Jane’s Intelligence Review to can an article on cyberterrorism. Last week, the Jane’s editors approached Slashdot to ask for feedback on the article. So overwhelming was the response – and so unanimous was the disapproval of the text as it stood – that the editors decided to replace the article with a completely re-written piece cobbled together from comments posted to the site. All those quoted will receive a share of the writer’s fee. While the announcement from Jane’s was greeted warmly by Slashdot regulars, it has given technology journalists everywhere a fresh reason to lie awake at night.
