Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) commissioned the two companies to carry out trials of its 3G network in Padua, which involves both NEC and Siemens technology.
This experiment shows that video transmission, one of the major UMTS applications, is a reality for TIM, said Mauro Sentinelli, TIM’s general manager. While our competitors are still testing UMTS on site, TIM is already on air. In fact, TIM has been testing 3G radio transmissions since 1999. Now TIM has advanced from the testing phase to an operative phase.
