IT SERVICES: LACK OF IMAGINATION IN SERVICES

By CBR Staff Writer

Although many companies outsource the development of their Web applications, the market is fragmented, immature and lacks a clear leader, according to research organization the Meta Group. Meta’s survey of ‘Global 2000′ companies showed that by 2003, three quarters of the Global 2000 expect to outsource all or part of their complex Web application development projects. But the research company criticizes large IT services companies for a lack of imagination when it comes to Web site design and creative content development. And while it praises smaller service organizations for their creativity, it says they often lack the resources and/or expertise to integrate companies’ legacy applications with the Web. Overall, says the Meta Group, the smaller companies performed better.
