IT employers confident of upturn

But cost saving still tops the agenda

By Vinod

IT employers are confident about their business performance over the coming year as they see green shoots of recovery in the economy, but saving costs is still a priority, according to a report.

Two-thirds of the 170 IT employers interviewed by recruitment firm Modis International anticipated an upsurge in business this year. Despite the optimism, saving costs was the key concern for a third of respondents and nearly half said that it was a key element driving change in their organisation.

Meeting customer demands and finding new IT solutions were also highlighted as key factors that would create change in the business. Finding talent to deliver these changes was identified as a problem by a third of respondents, while one in five were concerned about retaining key staff.
