Is that intelligent life from another galaxy? No it’s baked beans bubbling away in the microwave ready for someone’s evening snack. Scientists at the UK’s Jodrell Bank radio telescope center are plagued by interference from microwave ovens from nearby homes which is creating a crackling noise in their earphones which could obliterate faint communications from aliens billions of miles away. Chief engineer Dr Tony Battilana told the Daily Mail: It would be sad to write off all possibility of pursuing our inquiry for the sake of a microwave.
