Bluestone Software Inc yesterday announced the launch of its Powered By Sapphire/Web program. The Mount Laurel, New Jersey, web application server specialist, said its new initiative enables ISVs to embed Bluestone’s Sapphire/Web application server framework into pre-written software or use the platform, and its development tools, to quickly and easily deploy new web-based applications. Already, Platinum Technology Inc, OpenConnect Systems Inc and Foundation Technologies Inc have committed to using the technology. John Capobianco, senior vice president of marketing at Bluestone quoted analysts’ predictions that the number of web-enabled applications will more than double annually for at least the next four years. Most of those applications will be created by ISVs, who’ll be looking for enterprise class development and deployment frameworks, like Sapphire/Web, he said. Earlier this year, Platinum technology announced that it had deployed Sapphire/Web in its flagship application development management tool, ADvisor. OpenConnect Systems said it will integrate Bluestone’s Sapphire/Web development and deployment environment with its OC://WebConnect Enterprise Server Suite by the end of this year and Foundation Technologies said it would incorporate Sapphire/Web application server framework into its human resources, Beneflex, application by the end of the fourth quarter. Last month (CI No 3,478), Bluestone announced Sapphire/Web support for Sun Microsystem Inc’s Enterprise Java Beans. The server also supports CORBA, COM, and MTS, and runs on Unix, Windows 95 and NT, and the IBM System 390.
