Internet Security Systems Inc (ISS) yesterday announced a new decision support application which the company claims is the first to collate data from disparate security systems and collate it in one, common repository for analysis. The Atlanta, Georgia-based network security company said its SAFEsuite Decisions automates the collection, integration, analysis and reporting of enterprise-wide security information from multiple sources including data from its own products, RealSecure intrusion detection and response system and Internet Scanner and System Scanner, plus those of third party vendors. At the moment, the software only works with limited third party software, namely Check Point’s FireWall-1 and Network Associates’ Gauntlet Firewall, but the company says it’s currently working with ANSA (Adaptive Network Security Alliance) partners, including Lucent and Hewlett-Packard, among others, to integrate their security products with the SAFEsuite decision support tool. It hopes to include data from firewall logs and digital signature server products throughout 1999. SAFEsuite Decision works by automatically correlating and analyzing the data and producing a security risk profile of the entire enterprise network, said Kevin Black, a spokesperson for ISS. He added that the company had developed the product in response to user demand. Customers want a complete picture of their overall security needs and up until now, there hasn’t been a product to address their needs, he said. Prices for SAFEsuite Decisions start at 17,499 pounds, depending on the size of the user’s network.
