International Software Group Ltd is announcing a strategic partnership with WebXi Inc today (Monday). WebXi, a developer of internet data server software, will use Burlington, Massachusetts-based ISG’s Navigator integration software to extend the back-end access and integration capabilities of its products, which are aimed at customers deploying data and transaction intensive web applications.

WebXi’s Data Server Java Edition includes a pure Java JDBC driver and scalable data server with intelligent connection pooling and data utilization statistics. Through ISG Navigator, the product will gain native access to multi-platform relational, pre- relational and post-relational data sources as well as standard OLE DB sources. WebXi customers can also develop custom drivers to proprietary data sources through Navigator, and use its Application Connector for data connection through application logic and business rules. ISG gains access to data from Java servlets through the partnership.

Three-year-old WebXi is also based in Burlington. Previously known as WebEngine Inc, the company changed its name to WebXi back in March when it won $1.25m in first round financing from private investors. The Data Server became generally available in July.
