IS UNISYS’ SERVICES BUSINESS COMPAQ’S NEXT TARGET?

By CBR Staff Writer

Unisys Corp and Compaq Computer Corp’s recent discussions to broaden their joint service offering (CI No 3,208) has sparked the notion that Compaq may go a step further and acquire Unisys, hears our sister publication Unigram.X. The talks last month broadened an already growing relationship, expanding to Unisys providing services for Compaq in Latin America, the Caribbean, parts of Japan and North America. It’s argued that Compaq could do with the company’s service and systems integration operation now that it’s swallowed Tandem.
