Well, what kind of numbers should we expect from GEC Plc today? Most analysts still look for something around the UKP670m mark pre-tax after write-offs from the Nimrod fiasco, but an unidentified executive gave a rather naughty interview to the International Herald Tribune in May, inter alia saying that profits were likely to be in the region of UKP650m for the year to last March (CI No 687): that would compare with UKP725m two years ago and UKP701m last year, but fans of the company see the current year as the one when GEC emerges from the doldrums.
