IS DAVID BOWIE ALADDIN SANE TO ENTER ISP BUSINESS?

By CBR Staff Writer

David Bowie’s latest project, that of internet service provider will start business on September 1. BowieNet will offer internet access costing $20 per month via Concentric Network Corp. In addition to the account, users will get access to exclusive information about the Thin White Duke, and access to unreleased tracks, backstage footage and so on. Users will also be able to get an email address ending @davidbowie.com. For those with an existing account with another ISP, Bowie will offer the content only for $6 a month – a policy that did not serve the likes of CompuServe or Prodigy too well. Bowie and Concentric were brought together by UltraStar Internet Services LLC, a management technology partnership in New York.
