Iron Mountain, which has hit the headlines more than once because it has lost customers’ data in transit, said the Xepa purchase will give its customers in the entertainment industry peace of mind that their data can be digitized without having to leave its facilities.

The company said it stores data for all of the major film studios and record labels, and analog audio tapes includng priceless masters.

Last month Iron Mountain announced its purchase of e-discovery specialist Stratify. That followed the acquisition in September of RMS Services USA, a provider of online data storage to healthcare companies, and the purchases of online backup services providers Connected and LiveVault in 2004 and 2005.
