The Iranian government also plans to set up an independent telecoms regulator to oversee the market, and there will be enhancements to the local landline service to support the growth in the cellular market.
Iran to get second GSM network
The Iranian Telegraph & Telephone Ministry is to award a second GSM license within the next year. The ministry expects demand will reach 10 million users by 2004, driving the need for another cellular network.
