Maynard, Massachusetts-based IPL Systems Inc has launched ServiceONE Direct, a new software and service application for remote monitoring of AS/400 systems. When the system finds potential or actual storage problems, it automatically notifies IPL – 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Requiring only 1.2Mb of disk space and 512Kb of memory, ServiceONE Direct is 100% compatible with IBM AS/400 Error Log reporting and runs on any AS/400 system using OS/400 Version 2, Release 2 or above. IPL offers two ServiceONE Direct plans. Under the Basic Plan, IPL will monitor its own storage equipment. Under the Extended Plan, monitoring will also include all IBM-compatible storage equipment – an industry first, according to the company. IPL ServiceONE Direct is available now, listing at $2,500 for the Basic Plan and $5,000 for the Extended Plan; both are one-time charges for all applicable devices on each CPU.
