IPL Systems Inc, Waltham, Massachusetts, says that it now offers 8Mb and 16Mb memory upgrades for all IBM 4381 processors at 30% off the IBM price – a saving of $24,000 for 16Mb: the 5400 series of add-in memory upgrades are also claimed to offer an immediate reliable improvement in 4381 efficiency and productivity using 1M memory chips on 4Mb boards, improving over IBM’s memory write cycle time by 100%, increasing availability of main storage to the 4381 processor for better overall system performance.
