IONA ADAPTER LINKS OBJECT DATABASE PRODUCTS TO ORBIX

By CBR Staff Writer

Iona Technologies Plc has unveiled its new Orbix Database Adapter Framework, a software toolkit designed to enable independent software vendors to create adapters linking object database products to the Orbix object request broker. The Dublin, Ireland- based object request broker company claims the product will enable vendors to provide complete integration between object database and object-relational products and Orbix. Iona claims the new product offers developers more integrated tools, potentially offering lower development and maintenance costs. ODAF 1.0 is shipping now on Sun Solaris and Windows NT. Developer kits are free, with server runtime licenses dependent on configuration.
