Spanish Investronica SA has a multimedia system, Inves Multimedia PC: the system, intended mainly for domestic and educational use, is based on the company’s 80286 and 80386 personal computers with 1Mb RAM, 40Mb hard disk and VGA monitor, and is equipped with a CD-ROM unit, stereo synthesiser capable of generating several sounds, an analogue-to-digital converter for speech and sound reproduction, an analogue-to-digital stereo mixer for audio mixing, an amplifier, a set of 4W speakers and headphones, and microphone; Invest Multimedia has several application programmes, including a ‘talking parrot’ utility that repeats words spoken into the microphone; the Inves Multimedia personal computer range, the 12MHz, 80286-based Inves WS 500S and the 20MHz 80386-based Invest WS 600XS are available in two versions, audio only or audio plus CD-ROM, and there is a multimedia kit for the conversion of the 80286 computers, also in two versions; the audio and CD-ROM extensions cost $455 and the complete multimedia machine is $2,700 – ideal for the kid that has everything.
