Intuit Inc, Menlo Park, California is pursuing Microsoft Corp’s dream of on-line banking all on its own following the failure of Microsoft to get its bid for Intuit past the regulators. It says that its Quicken for 96 for Windows personal finance program will include a tightly integrated version of Netscape Navigator from Netscape Communications Corp; free access to the Quicken Financial Network World Wide Web site; and low-cost full Internet access in the US through service provider Concentric Network Corp, of Cupertino, California. Low cost means as little as $1.95 for one hour a month, with another plan offering seven hours for $9.95 a month and additional hours at $1.95 an hour. Intuit plans Netscape Navigator and Internet access products for other versions of Quicken, including later Quicken for Mac OS.
