Knowledge management start-up Intraspect Software Inc, of Los Altos, California, has signed a strategic partnership with the SAS Institute Inc, which has launched a new set of collaborative business intelligence tools to the market this month. SAS is combining its business intelligence tools with Intraspect’s knowledge enablement software. SAS CBI combines number-based information generated by its business intelligence tools with text based materials to set the information in context. SAS says it will expand the CBI product line as extensions to its datawarehousing and business intelligence tools by striking up further relationships with knowledge management providers as their technology becomes available, including Lotus Development Corp and Microsoft Corp. The Intraspect Knowledge Server integrates collaboration, organization, search and subscription tools into a single application that runs over corporate intranets, and uses Objectivity Inc’s object database as a repository. The company was founded in 1995, and funded in part by Roger Sippl, who also founded Informix Corp and Vantive Software Inc. Co-founder Peter Friedland is the company’s chairman.
