SAP AG has chosen fellow German software firm Intershop AG to provide the e-commerce software for its new portal site, mySAP.com. The portal is SAP’s project to allow its customers to make back-end ERP data available via the web using a Yahoo-style series of sites. The firm plans to develop the portal into a digital marketplace, which lets users buy goods and services from other partners via the web, as well as incorporating a personalized employee interface with details of travel, news and finance. Intershop will provide its Intershop Enterprise product to take care of the store-fronts for businesses which use the portal, using its SAP R/3 connections to bring SAP data to the store templates.
