Major value-added network service provider Internet is to take on Nippon Telegraph & Telephone’s DDX-C digital leased exchange service with its own DCX offering in March – and it will have additional functions not available in DDX-C; DCX will be based on 42 access points in cities around Japan, and in other areas will provide dial-up service; with line speeds of 2,400, 4,800 and 9,600 bpsl it will provide a DIDEC Intelligent Network Control Unit which will automatically send the user identity and the DCX network exchange number, and will monitor entire network using a Time Division Multiplexer; charges will be around $15 to $20 per terminal per month, with usage charges on a 2,400 bps line set at around 23 cents per minute.
