Electronic commerce on the Internet in the US will be worth more than $30,000m within the next five years, according to US consultancy Forrester Research. The report comes amid a flurry of hype as valuations of Netscape Communications Corp, the two-year-old Web browser company that turned its first profit in the September quarter and will definitely report a loss next time, soared into the $6,200m stratosphere before slipping back a little. The report is forecasting a $9,000m Internet infrastructure market, a $1,800m consumer market, a $4,500m business information market and an on-line shopping and trading market worth $14,000m.
