Mr McAlpine was previously president, network services group with Inter-Tel, a communications equipment provider and subsidiary of Mitel. Mr McAlpine came to Inter-Tel in 1991 when Inter-Tel acquired Telecommunications Specialists from Bell Atlantic Corporation. Since 1991, Mr McAlpine has served in a number of positions for Inter-Tel and its operating divisions serving from 1997 to 2001 as president of Inter-Tel.Net, an internet telephony service provider utilizing voice over internet protocol (VoIP).

Mr McAlpine has also held the positions of senior vice president of Inter-Tel, vice president and treasurer of Inter-Tel Communications and founder and president of Inter-Tel Leasing. Prior to 1991, Mr McAlpine was chief financial officer of Telecommunications Specialists, a Bell Atlantic company. McAlpine holds a BBA in accounting from Texas State University.
