INTERNATIONAL TELECOMJAPAN SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH AT&T FOR LINE CONNECTION

British Telecom-backed International Telecom Japan reckons it has scored a coup over its rival, Cable & Wireless-backed International Digital Communications, by being the first to sign a basic agreement with AT&T Co for line connection – about 40% of Japan’s communications are with the US; International Digital is also negotiating with AT&T but there are hold-ups reportedly related to the proposed involvement of Pacific Telesis International in the company’s pan-Pacific optical cable.
