By CBR Staff Writer

Intergraph Computer Systems Corp has a new additon to its line of Windows NT workstations, using single and dual Pentium II MMX- enabled processors running at 300MHz. The TD-225 PC is aimed at small office and home office users, particularly in the computer- aided design and visualisation markets, where it faces increasing competition from larger rivals such as Compaq Computer Corp and Dell Computer Corp. The new box has 32Kb level one cache, 512Kb level 2 cache with 16Mb RAM expandable to 512Mb and includes five PCI slots. Other features include 24x CD ROM drive and a 4Gb Exabyte Travan TR-4 tape drive for back-ups. Intergraph believes it has the edge over competition through the range of peripherals and graphics options it offers with the new machine. Four graphics cards are available; the Intense 3D 100 for general purpose use, the Matrox Millennium II aimed at 2D CAD users, up to the Intense 3D Pro1000 and the high end Intense 3D Pro 2200 models. Four monitor sizes are also available; 15 inch, 17 inch, 19 inch and 21 inch. The TD-225 with single processor starts at $1,970 with the dual model beginning at the $3,170 for the basic box. Graphics cards range from around $100 to $1900 and monitors from $280 for the 15 inch model to $1,400 for the 21 inch model.
