Huntsville, Alabama-based Intergraph Corp is shutting up manufacturing and distribution shop in Europe and moving the functions back home to its headquarters in Huntsville – at an astonishing cost of $70m pre-tax, given that only about 130 jobs will be lost at Nijmegen, Netherlands.The change is intended to will result in improved manufacturing efficiency and lower costs – it looks to save $30m a year starting this year. Intergraph has also revalued its field service inventories due to changing product strategies and written down investments in companies and technologies that no longer add value to the future business model of the firm. It looks for fiscal fourth quarter sales of $270m to $275m.
