Intergraph Corp, Huntsville, Alabama is to bundle the Looking Glass graphica user interface from Visix Software Inc with all its workstations, starting immediately. Icon-and mouse-driven Looking Glass runs on graphical Unix workstations and X terminals, providing users with a more intuitive method of managing files and directories, manipulating the Unix environment and launching applications. It has been implemented in full conformance with the Open Software Foundation’s Motif standard, which is derived from Microsoft Corp’s Presentation Manager and provides the final layer of system interface software needed to make Unix a complete end-user product. Visix, based in Arlington, Virginia, is in fierce competition with IXI Ltd, Cambridge, UK, which offers the rival X.Desktop product.
