Huntsville, Alabama-based Intergraph Corp has launched a string of new networking products, enhanced existing ones, and cut prices.- but the announcement is woefully short on detail. There are two products that support 802.3 Ethernetworks running over fibre optic cable, support for X21 interfaces, and a new, expandable, 16-port TCP/IP communications server. Intergraph has also expanded its Token-Ring offerings, added support for SNA/LLC Link Level Control, and source route bridging, and has introduced a single-attached station Fiber Data Distributed Interface controller. It also cut prices on its InterHub 10Base-T Hub to make it easier for customers to cost-justify installing or expanding their 802.3 Ethernetworks over unshielded twisted pair wiring. The company has enhanced performance for TCP/IP and FTP, File Transfer Protocol, support for the Domain Naming Service, and IP Internet Protocol routing. TCP/IP support for personal computers is broadened, the company says, and the Point-to-Point Protocol has been introduced on the Intergraph Multiprotocol Router, so that users can now manage any network device supporting Simple Network Management Protocol with Intergraph’s Network Management System. A series of new products integrate TCP/IP-based networks with IBM SNA and Open Systems Interconnection networks with three new 3270 emulation products. The Hewlett-Packard Co DesignJet plotter is now included among Intergraph’s family of wide-format plotters, offered as a pen plotter alternative for customers with low to moderate volume monochrome output requirements. No prices were given for any of the products.
