Interactive Entertainment Ltd, undaunted by the difficulties its competitors have faced, is soldiering on in the inflight interactive entertainment market. The Memphis, Tennessee based company has completed tests of its Sky Games inflight gaming system, branded as KrisGames II for Singapore Airlines. Competitor Interactive Flight Technologies Inc, which two years ago was enthusing about inflight entertainment systems, hit hard times earlier this year as airlines decided against installing its equipment. The Phoenix, Arizona based company was hit by what it called a downturn in interest for in-flight systems, with Swissair reducing its order and Qantas Airways Ltd deciding against installing them altogether (CI No 3,335). Interactive Entertainment has also completed work to make its Sky Play games software compatible with inflight interactive video systems from key providers in a market which tends to offer proprietary systems. The games have been integrated with the Matsuchita 2000E, Rockwell Collins Passenger Systems Total Entertainment System (TES), Sony Trans Com Inc P@ssport, B/E Aerospace Inc MDDS and the GMIS 27001K systems.
