In the largest merger among computer retailers ever, Intelligent Electronics Inc, Exton, Pennsylvania has definitive agreement to acquire Entre Computer Centers Inc: it will make a $6.10 a share cash tender offer and already has options on about 50% of the shares outstanding; the combination will create the second largest computer franchise network in North America after ComputerLand, with a total of about 375 locations that make end user sales of close to $1,000m.
