Intelliden, a provider of intelligent network automation services, has released a new version of R-Series platform, with a new toolkit for customers to create SmartModels for simple network management protocol (SNMP) based devices in a self care mode.

Intelliden’s applications are built upon R-Series platform, which provides automation, standardisation, and device management. It serves as an abstraction layer to the underlying network by translating device information into XML based SmartModels.

The company said that its SmartModel device drivers contain relevant communications handlers, configuration commands, allowed parameters, inter-relationships, logic and metadata for rendering the user interface.

The newly released R-Series platform offers the ability to retrieve specific attributes of SNMP-based devices and perform actions against them. In addition, the management of SmartModel device drivers include a mechanism for retrieving, visualising and manipulating SNMP management information base metadata, attributes and variables, the company said.

Remko Vos, vice president of product management at Intelliden, said: “Intelliden SmartModels enable standardisation of the multi-vendor, multi-protocol networks and ensure accuracy of changes. We want to make it possible for a wide range of customers to enjoy the benefits of SmartModel technology. These R-Series platform enhancements will enable Intelliden’s customers to rapidly create SmartModels for SNMP devices and start managing them in a matter of hours.”
