New York-based Intelisys, which builds business-to-business e- commerce web sites, has won over Texas Instruments Inc, which will create a company-wide procurement service based on Intelisys software integrated with its existing SAP system. It will supposedly save TI millions of dollars a year.
In addition to supplying discrete services for individual customers, Intelisys will shortly unveil a new product strategy aimed at super channels, affinity groups, or horizontal procurement markets such as office supplies and aggregating financial services for small businesses. Intelisys touts its service as internet procurement, which it says is different from e-procurement because it leaves no trail of paper.
The company is also adding electronic component catalog distributor Newark Electronics to its services. Intelisys competes with MRO maintenance, repair and operating material ISVs, including Ariba. Ironically, Ariba has a close relationship with Hewlett-Packard Co, which also hosts outsourced Intelisys networks.
